Who Was Robert Jacobson

Who Was Robert Jacobson?

Robert Jacobson was a charismatic, dedicated and kind person. His community and family meant the world to him.

You could count on Robbie for anything from giving a ride to a schoolmate so they didn’t have to stand in the rain to mowing a neighbor’s unruly lawn out of respect for the community. He had a deep sense of compassion. He was proud of who he was and where he came from, and he tried his best to instill this pride in others. Regardless of background or popularity status, Robert genuinely wanted to get to know and make friends with everyone.

A remarkably well-liked person, Robert also had a great sense of humor. His light-hearted nature and ability to put others at ease drew people towards him. This disposition made it so that he could have fun in any setting, even a mundane trip to the grocery store.

Growing up, Robert was deeply involved in his local Ardsley community. His athletic ability and love for building relationships led him to excel in many community sports, from the Ardsley Swim Club team to Little League to a friendly neighborhood game of base tennis. The ability to form new friendships and bonds with his teammates was really what drew Robbie to these games. His brother Mark describes him as “going to bat for the underdog,” emphasizing how much he wanted to make sure every team member felt valued and important.

Robert Jacobson Sports was created in honor of Robert’s memory with the hope of imparting his sense of inclusion, friendship and community on and off the field. We aim to create an environment where all are accepted and all can find that feeling of passion, fun, and belonging, just as Robbie would have wanted.

What is the Robert Jacobson Sports philosophy?

Robert Jacobson Sports (RJS) gets your child and your family connected to our sports and education programs. We want you and your children to meet and play with other families and friends in our community and surrounding areas. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience and get connected to sports in a safe and fun manner. We teach every child how to improve their game regardless of their playing level. We teach our players and coaches the values of community, tolerance, sportsmanship and teamwork while competing on the court and on the field. All children, from all communities are welcome to play in our sports programs. We get your child and your family connected!
